> Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Competitive Grants Program
The Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged Farmers and Ranchers Competitive Grants Program (OASDFR) seeks to conduct outreach and technical assistance to encourage and assist socially disadvantaged farmers and ranchers to own and operate farms and ranches, and to provide information on application and bidding procedures, farm management and other essential information to participate in agricultural programs. Grant awards are made annually to entities, based on available funding, to provide intensive training and management assistance (one-to-one and group training) to small farmers and ranchers determined to meet the objectives of the program, particularly those designated as socially disadvantaged. Training and Technical Assistance includes: developing individualized farm plans, introducing effective/sound production and marketing practices, and teaching farm accounting and record-keeping procedures.
