New Mexi k i d s is no cost or low cost health coverage for children under 19 years old. If your household income is less than 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, health care services are provided to your child at no cost. If your household income is 185% - 235% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, some of the health care services your child receives may require that you make a co-payment at the time each service is provided. Preventive services, such as Tot to Teen Health Checks and immunizations do not require a co-payment. New Mexi k i d s pays for regular check-ups, doctor visits, dental visits, hospital care, prescriptions, glasses and hearing and vision exams. Other services may be covered if they are medically necessary.
General Program Requirements:
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of New Mexico, under 19 years of age, not covered by health insurance (including Medicaid), a US national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident, and you must have an annual household income before taxes of less than $29,241 if two people live in the household; $39,339 if three people live in the household; $49,437 if four people live in the household; $69,633 if five people live in the household; $79,731 if six people live in the household; $89,829 if seven people live in the household; $99,927 if eight people live in the household; and $120,123 if more than eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $10,098 for each additional person in the home. Depending on your income level, you may have to pay a premium for coverage.
