Program Description:
The Rhode Island Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a Federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. LIHEAP is an assistance program designed to help low income households with home heating costs.
General Program Requirements:
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the state of Rhode Island, you must need financial assistance for home energy costs and your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $25,971 if one person lives in the household; $33,962 if two people live in the household; $41,953 if three people live in the household; $49,945 if four people live in the household; $57,936 if five people live in the household; $65,927 if six people live in the household; $67,426 if seven people live in the household, or $68,924 if eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $1,497 for each additional person in the home.
