Program Description:
The Department of Energy, Weatherization Assistance Program (DOE WAP) has long served as the core program for delivering energy conservation services to low-income Californians. The Weatherization Assistance Program reduces the heating and cooling costs for low-income families by improving the energy efficiency of their homes and ensuring their health and safety. Among low-income households, the program focuses on those with elderly residents, individuals with disabilities, and families with children.
General Program Requirements:
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of the State of California, you must need financial assistance for home energy costs and your household's annual income before taxes must not exceed $29,173 if one person lives in the household; $38,149 if two people live in the household; $47,125 if three people live in the household; $56,101 if four people live in the household; $65,077 if five people live in the household; $74,053 if six people live in the household; $75,736 if seven people live in the household, or $77,419 if eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $1,683 for each additional person in the home.
