Program Description:

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, young professionals and artists to study abroad for one academic year. The Fulbright U.S. Student Program also includes the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) Program, which places U.S. students as English teaching assistants in schools or universities overseas. Grants specify terms and conditions to meet the educational goals proposed by the grantee and approved by the Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in making the award. Benefits for Fulbright U.S. Student Program research/study and ETA grants include: round trip transportation, maintenance for one academic year based on living costs in the host country, and limited health benefits. In addition, research and study grants may also include: book and research allowances, full or partial tuition, language study programs, and enrichment activities and orientations. Travel-only grants: Available in Italy, Germany, and Hungary only, and are designed to supplement a student??s own funds for study or research or an award from any source that does not provide for international travel.

 

General Program Requirements:

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a U.S. citizen and hold a bachelor??s degree or equivalent before the start of the grant. Applicants who have not earned a B.A. degree or the equivalent, but who have extensive professional study and/or experience in fields in which they wish to pursue a project, may be considered. In the creative and performing arts, four years of professional study and/or experience meets the basic eligibility requirement. Applicants may hold a J.D. degree at the time of application, but not a doctorate.
