Program Description:
The Native American Vocational and Technical Education Program (NAVTEP) provides grants to projects that improve vocational and technical education that benefits American Indians and Alaska Natives. NAVTEP gives special consideration to exemplary approaches that involve, coordinate with, and encourage Tribal Economic Development Plans, as well as applications from tribally controlled community colleges.
General Program Requirements:
Who May Apply:
- A Federally recognized Indian tribe
- A tribal organization
- An Alaska Native entity
- A Bureau-funded school proposing to use its award to support postsecondary vocational and technical education programs.
Any tribe, tribal organization, Alaska Native entity, or eligible bureau-funded school may apply individually or as part of a consortium with one or more eligible tribes.
Who Benefits: Native Americans or Alaskan Natives wishing to pursue special careers or technical education opportunities.
