Program Description:

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program sends American scholars and professionals to approximately 125 countries, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields. Traditional Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grants typically range from three months to one academic year.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program also includes the Fulbright Specialists Program, which sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning and related subjects at overseas academic institutions for a period of two to six weeks. Benefits for U.S. Scholar Program grants vary by country and award. In general, Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grants are budgeted to cover travel and living costs in-country for the grantee and their accompanying dependents.

 

General Program Requirements:

In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a U.S. citizen and hold a Ph.D. or equivalent professional/terminal degree as appropriate at the time of application. Professionals and artists outside academe must demonstrate recognized professional standing and substantial professional accomplishments.
