Program Description:

The Community Based Family Resource and Support (CBFRS) Program, authorized by Title II of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act as amended in 1996, is a formula grant program that provides funds to a designated lead agency in each state to support child abuse prevention related activities. The primary purposes of the program are to: 1) Support state efforts to develop, operate, expand, and enhance a network of community-based, prevention focused, family resource and support programs that coordinate resources among a wide range of public and private organizations 2) Foster an understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of diverse populations in order to effectively prevent and treat child abuse and neglect

 

General Program Requirements:

Eligibility is determined by the Lead Agency in every State. Typically, the program targets families, caregivers and children.
